Why DNA?

Every living thing on Earth has it's own unique DNA sequence.  DNA is a biological code containing the genetic instructions that make us the distinct individuals we are!

DNA can be thought of as a fingerprint, a blueprint or a recipe. This unique fingerprint is found inside almost every cell... including your dog's cells.  A dog can be positively identified once it's DNA is analyzed.

Most of us have seen crime shows on TV.  PooPrints analyzes DNA in much the same way.  Taking a walk around our lab you would see some of the very same equipment.  Community managers sometimes think of themselves as the neighborhood CSI team!

DNA is undeniably the best method of animal identification.

Cells containing DNA can be found in a dog's waste.

By comparing the DNA found in waste with a reference sample, the offending dog can be identified.
